Idaho South

State Hospital South, located in Blackfoot, is one of two state psychiatric hospitals in Idaho and is administered by the Division of Behavioral Health within the Department of Health and Welfare.

State Hospital South has three 30-bed adult treatment units that provide psychiatric services to individuals ages 18 and older. These units provide assessment, medication stabilization, individual and group therapy, recreational therapy, and nursing care services.

The adolescent unit is a 16-bed unit that provides inpatient psychiatric services to adolescents aged 11 through 17. Syringa Chalet Nursing Facility, located on the hospital campus, is a 29-bed psychiatric care nursing home that provides short-term and long-term care for adults over the age of 65 with mental illness who require skilled nursing care.
